What an amazing day in the Forest today 🌲 🌳
We came prospered for rain and were rewarded with sunshine ☀️
It’s is great to watch the children play together and solve simple problems of which path to take and how to get in the swing with out a grown up to help.
They meet challenges head on and take massive steps in their learning together.
A wet day in the Forest today as we explored the rain and the bugs it brings out, a slug was the most interesting as it watched us from its perch on the log😀
Today has been our first forest school after school club😀, burning of steam after being in the class room all day.
we have taken up residence at Ransomwood 😀 the children have had an amazing time exploring the woodland. We are lucky enough to have a huge variety of trees, birds and insects to explore. The children have thrived making dens and climbing trees today.
Its winter and it very cold out side down to -2 today in places. So does that mean we need to stay inside with the children? No it is all about what to wear to stay warm. It is not always about big thick coats but layers. More layers helps keep the warmth in. Watch the great video on this page for some good advice.
What an amazing day in the winter sun. It was cold we were wrapped up warm. The children explored they climbed and enjoyed a warm lunch.
We spotted lots of Robins watching us and hunted for bugs in the leaves.
Interesting story about children’s play with in our society.
Some people will be wondering what forest school is! First and for most it’s about allowing children to know nature, the trees the grass the birds, animals and insects. Allowing them an opportunity to have fun, play and take their own risk. To allow children to guide there own learning.
Each one of these is an avenue to explore with fun and games along the way.
As children become settled in the woodland environment new skills are shown, practiced and learned. Using tools to carve and whittle building dens to keep dry and as part of stories and when children are cold what better way than a fire and a hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows.
I’ve been on the hunt for a site for us to use for forest school sessions. There are three amazing choice I have meetings arranged for in January so watch this space. What would parents and children want from my forest school sessions? When would they want them to happen? How long would they want them to last ? So many questions to work through....😀
In December I attended my forest school first aid training. An eye opener in to the life of forest school and ways to deal with any accidents. I succeeded in enhancing my first aid skills and my confidence to help in an emergencie.
