Interesting story about children’s play with in our society.
Some people will be wondering what forest school is! First and for most it’s about allowing children to know nature, the trees the grass the birds, animals and insects. Allowing them an opportunity to have fun, play and take their own risk. To allow children to guide there own learning.
Each one of these is an avenue to explore with fun and games along the way.
As children become settled in the woodland environment new skills are shown, practiced and learned. Using tools to carve and whittle building dens to keep dry and as part of stories and when children are cold what better way than a fire and a hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows.
I’ve been on the hunt for a site for us to use for forest school sessions. There are three amazing choice I have meetings arranged for in January so watch this space. What would parents and children want from my forest school sessions? When would they want them to happen? How long would they want them to last ? So many questions to work through....😀
In December I attended my forest school first aid training. An eye opener in to the life of forest school and ways to deal with any accidents. I succeeded in enhancing my first aid skills and my confidence to help in an emergencie.
In November 2017 I began my forest school journey with my level 3 forest school training at the Robyn Hood Activity Center. It was a week to remember with others who were beginning there journey as well. With shelters, knots, tool work, fire building and out door cooking. Along side the insight in to how forest school can have postage effects on children and young people self esteem self confidence along side play and playful ness. The seed was planted and started to grow.
